A technical SEO audit finds what stops search engines from crawling, indexing and understanding your site, and turns it into a fix list your developer can work through in order of impact. I check eight areas, back every issue with evidence and write the exact fix, so nothing in the report needs translating.

The eight areas I check
| Area | What I look for |
|---|---|
| Crawling and indexing | Pages Google can't reach or chooses not to index, and why. See why pages aren't indexed. |
| Sitemaps and robots.txt | Sitemaps that list redirects, errors or noindexed URLs; robots.txt rules that block too much. See the sitemap and robots.txt guides. |
| Canonicals | Conflicting or missing canonical signals and duplicate URL variants. See canonical URLs. |
| Redirects | Chains, loops, temporary redirects used for permanent moves and soft 404s. See HTTP status codes. |
| Internal links | Orphaned pages, important pages buried too deep and links that point at redirects. See internal linking. |
| Structured data | Invalid or misleading markup and missing entity information. See schema markup. |
| Core Web Vitals | What delays the main content, blocks interaction or shifts the layout. See Core Web Vitals. |
| AI search readiness | Whether AI crawlers can read your pages and whether your brand is clearly described. See the AI search audit for a deeper look. |
What a finding looks like
Here's one finding from an audit of this website in October 2026, in the same format you'd receive. It was fixed the same day.
Missing pages sometimes return 200 instead of 404 Medium
- Evidence
- 7 of 30 requests to random missing URLs returned HTTP 200 with the error page, without the security headers real responses carry. The server cache was replaying the error page.
- Impact
- Google can treat these URLs as soft 404s and spend crawl requests on pages that don't exist.
- Fix
- Serve the error page through a script that always sends a real 404 status and disables caching:
ErrorDocument 404 /404.php, withhttp_response_code(404)andCache-Control: no-storeat the top of the file. - Effort
- About 15 minutes.
- How to confirm it
- Request 50 random missing URLs; all 50 should return 404.
How it works
- Order on Upwork. The price is fixed, and you can message me first if you're unsure.
- Send your website address and, if you can, read-only Search Console access.
- I audit the site within two days and deliver the prioritized fix list.
- Ask me anything about the findings. If you want the fixes implemented, I'll quote them separately.
What the audit doesn't include
The audit doesn't rewrite your content or build links, and it doesn't guarantee rankings. Implementation is separate. For very large sites, such as thousands of templates or many language versions, I'll confirm the scope with you before you order.
